History

Philips Semiconductors (September 1999 - Present) Database Administrator and Analyst for the Microcontrollers group. Oversee database application processing and web interfaces for a world-wide operation. Maintain database integrity on a distributed system. Analyze applications, recommend and prioritize system and procedural enhancements, delegate assignments as necessary.

Independent Consultant (January 1997 - September 1999) Manage multiple contracts as a freelance computer consultant. Design, develop, and maintain databases and internet and intranet websites. Intranet application design and programming, back-end database engineering and front-end forms-based user interfaces.

Project Lead for database conversion project. Converted mainframe legacy database to a Sybase relational database. Engineered the new Sybase database from conception through implementation. Defined specifications for and engineered the database model. Created the physical objects in Unix. Designed and Developed application programs and input-forms using SQL, HTML, CGI and JavaScript. Wrote scripts to populate the Sybase tables. Coordinated inter-departmental data integration. Provided written system and application documentation. Presented plans, briefings, and software demonstrations to senior management.  Conducted training sessions one-on-one and in classroom settings.

SRI International (June 1985 - December 1996) Project Lead for all automation efforts within Corporate Security. Managed annual automation budget of $80k.Designed, developed, and maintained several key database systems and applications programs. Established the facility access control system which monitors and regulates security alarms, gates and individual access authority for 1500+ employees on a 72-acre facility. Integrated barcode technology into multiple database applications thus increasing the efficiency and accuracy of many crucial tasks. Established the personnel photo ID database system and headed the project to ensure that all 1500+ employees were entered into the system, photographed, and issued ID badges. Designed 30+ database application programs for specialized administrative functions.

Headed project to upgrade and standardize desktop systems for 40 employees--determined needs, evaluated hardware and software products, purchased and installed systems. Liaison to outside vendors. Provided trouble shooting for 25 Windows systems on a TCP/IP network. Met all information systems needs.
